TReC (Triaging Referrals as an eConsult)
Triaging eReferrals as an eConsult (TreC) is a workflow that allows specialists to respond to referrals with advice, through an eConsult, if they deem appropriate, often eliminating the need for an in-person appointment.
eReferral via eFax
eFax recipients are not active Ocean participants, referrals sent to them through Ocean arrive as a fax therefore the sending site must update the referral information in Ocean.
Messaging Disabled
In some instances, for example eFax above, the messaging pane will be unavailable in Ocean. If a message needs to be sent to the eReferral recipient this will need to be done by a different method outside of Ocean (fax, phone etc.).
Externally Managed
Some receiver workflows require their incoming referrals to be managed outside of Ocean. In these instances, the receiver directory listing will have a notification that follow up to the receiver needs to be done outside of Ocean.
Referral Closed Without Appointment Date
Some receiver workflows require them to manage appointment booking outside of Ocean. In these instances, booking details will arrive outside of Ocean (fax, phone, etc.) and will not be visible in Ocean.
Resubmit – Unavailable
Ocean has the functionality to resubmit referrals that have been cancelled/declined. Some receiver workflows do not allow this in Ocean. In these instances, the ability to resubmit will not be available.
Caredove
Caredove Organizations will have a note on the referral form that when submitted it will launch into Caredove and the details will be passed.
OTN – eConsult
Clinicians can initiate an eConsult from the OTN – eConsult listing in the Ocean Healthmap.
